What is FallSafe?

FallSafe is a Cloud-Native, Artificial Intelligence, and Internet of Things (IoT) solution that enables seniors to assess their fall risk independently from the comfort of their homes.

By using everyday mobile sensors and intelligent analysis, FallSafe helps seniors better understand their physical condition and take pre-emptive actions, such as improving home safety, before a fall occurs.

The project received national recognition after winning the Lee Hsien Loong Interactive Digital Media Smart Nation Award.

How FallSafe Began

From a classroom module to a nationally recognised solution addressing real community needs.

Origin

FallSafe started as part of a Cloud Native Architecture and Development module. The module focuses on building real-world cloud-native systems, covering:

Backend services with Golang
Cloud platforms (AWS & Azure)
Containerisation with Docker
Scalable deployment using Kubernetes

What began as coursework evolved into a solution addressing a critical community need.

Dell Innovate Dash 2025

Developed during Dell Innovate Dash 2025, organised by Dell Technologies in collaboration with Lions Befrienders.

The team built a Cloud-Native, AI- and sensor-driven solution that enables fall-risk assessments using only a mobile phone.

Institutional Recognition

Awarded Outstanding Innovation Award by Ngee Ann Polytechnic in recognition of technical excellence and social impact.
